Zesty is thrilled to announce the expansion of Insights, which now supports additional AWS cloud services. We have extended the scope of the “Unused Resources” feature and introduced alerts to avoid extended RDS and EKS support charges.

Designed to provide actionable recommendations, Zesty Insights helps customers identify significant cost-saving opportunities, prioritizing them based on the level of effort required for implementation and their impact on cloud costs. These updates are focused on enhancing visibility and control over cloud expenses, allowing our customers to make informed decisions and optimize their cloud resources effectively.

Alert on Extended Support Periods for RDS & EKS

Zesty Insights now proactively notifies users when their Amazon RDS or EKS instances enter their extended support period. This timely notice will help customers avoid unnecessary increases in cloud costs, granting them more control over their spend without the extra effort involved in monitoring such contracts. 

How it works: Zesty Insights conducts daily checks to identify when RDS or EKS instances transition into their extended support phase. The platform calculates and displays the estimated monthly fee of extended support, allowing customers to make informed decisions about upgrading or changing their cloud configurations.

Additional services for  “Unused Resources” feature

In our continuous effort to help customers minimize cloud waste, the “Unused Resources” feature on the Zesty Insights platform has been broadened to include additional AWS services such as NAT Gateway, VPC PrivateLink, CloudWatch Log Groups, and Kinesis Data Streams.
Each service analysis includes projected savings and the effort needed for remediation.

How it works:

1. NAT Gateway: Identifies gateways with minimal outbound traffic, recommending deactivation to cut costs.
2. VPC PrivateLink: Points out unused endpoints, allowing for cost reduction without compromising security.
3. CloudWatch Log Groups: Detects log groups without recent data ingestion, suggesting removal to decrease storage costs.
4. Kinesis Data Streams: Highlights inactive streams, advising elimination to reduce overhead and simplify operations.
