Kicking off 2025, major cloud providers AWS, GCP, and Azure have unveiled new Kubernetes features enhancing functionality and security. These January updates, ranging from AWS’s flexible node group strategies to GCP’s advanced GPU support and Azure’s improved AKS monitoring, help push container management across platforms forward as we head into a new and exciting year. Here is a list of some of the more notable updates from the previous month.

AWS Updates:

Amazon EKS Managed Node Group Update Strategies: Amazon EKS has introduced new update strategies for managed node groups, allowing users to control updates with options like the Default and Minimal Capacity strategies. This flexibility is particularly useful for managing updates in node groups using GPU instances or those scaled to zero, optimizing both operational overhead and compute costs. These strategies are available in all AWS Regions except the AWS GovCloud (US) and China Regions.
